Terms of use
Updated: October 5, 2026
1. Agreement
Upword is an iPhone app by Igor Hnes. By downloading or using it you agree to these terms and to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (standard EULA), which governs your license to use the app. Where these terms and the EULA differ, the EULA applies.
2. Free version
Without a subscription you get the first 3 words of the word bank with every feature: widgets, in-widget checks, spaced repetition, streak and My words.
3. Upword Pro subscription
Upword Pro unlocks the full bank of 150 words. It is offered as an auto-renewing subscription: Upword Pro monthly at $4.99 per month, or Upword Pro yearly at $29.99 per year. Prices are shown in US dollars and may differ in your country; the App Store shows the price in your currency before you confirm.
Both plans include a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. If you don’t cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you are charged for the first period.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase (or when the free trial ends). The subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
You can manage or cancel your subscription any time in iPhone Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies; you can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
4. Content
Upword’s word pairs, rules, examples and checks are written to help you sound more natural in English. They are learning suggestions, not a guarantee of exam results or of correctness in every context. The content is protected by copyright; please don’t copy or redistribute the word bank.
5. Availability and changes
We work to keep Upword reliable, but we provide it "as is" and cannot promise it will be free of errors or always available. We may update the app, the word bank and these terms. When the terms change, we update this page and the date above; continuing to use the app means you accept the new version.
6. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim related to Upword is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.
